If you’re keen on cooking in a large, spacious kitchen with an island probably seems like a dream come true. Actually, not everyone has the kitchen of their dreams in their apartment or house. Galley-style kitchens are most common, particularly if you’ve got an apartment that is small or a smaller or older house. But there are a couple of benefits to having a small kitchen space.
While your refrigerator and freezer won’t necessarily be smaller during a smaller kitchen, your pantry space presumably is. This smaller space for storing food means what food you are doing will get spent faster.
It also means you’re less likely to forget or lose track of what you’ve got in your pantry or refrigerator. Less space for storage also pushes you to only purchase the groceries you’ll need for every week approximately at a time. Since there won’t be much room to stock large quantities of anything.
It isn’t a secret that less area means there’s less to wash. And since every surface must be utilized in an economic way. It’s hard to let dirty dishes clutter the sink or countertop. That space will presumably have to be utilized later within the day.
There’s a common saying about having too many cooks within the kitchen. In a literal and physical sense, this sentiment is true with smaller kitchens because there simply isn’t enough room for quite one or two people to maneuver around comfortably.
For those that enjoy gathering within the kitchen or making dinner as a family, this might be a con, except for those that prefer to not have too many of us within the way or who want to stay any overbearing relatives or friends out of their kitchen, the smaller space would be a benefit.
