The YUGANG HOMESTAY, formerly a farmhouse, has been transformed due to the local tourism industry’s growth. The owner sought to update the outdated and worn-out design.
Designers Shen Mo and Zhang Jianyong were brought in to renovate and reconfigure the space, creating a fresh homestay environment.
The name “YUGANG” is inspired by the owner Yu Gang’s name. He envisions guests relaxing like a fish with a seven-second memory—letting go of their troubles and fully enjoying their stay. The overall design draws inspiration from the movement of fish, allowing guests to experience a sense of fluidity as they navigate through various spaces.
The spatial layout is organized into smaller functional areas, each made engaging and vibrant through thoughtful design and distinct scenes. The outdoor leisure area features white stones, creating a clear distinction between the activity and living spaces. The wooden grid corridor adds rhythm, with sunlight casting varying light and shadows throughout the day.
